I. At Maryland State FSNE Office in Columbia, Maryland:
Research online for health-related events in each Maryland county in the upcoming year. Add events to website pages.

-Update broken or outdated links at Maryland State FSNE Office in Columbia, MD.
-Review and evaluate the website according to FNIC evaluation guidelines

II. At Lewisdale Elementary School:
Assisted Jodi Balis, Patricia, and Lisa Lachenmayr with the Integrating Nutrition teacher's course
III. At Baltimore Highlands Elementary School:
Assist Haylee Staruck, Nutrition Educator and Project Leader in Baltimore County/Baltimore City FSNE Projects, in 4th grade nutrition class involving healthy snacks. More project information: http://baltimorecounty.umd.edu/. This class was one of many nutrition classes designed to include 4th grade students gardening vegetables and preparing healthy snacks while meeting school curriculum guidelines.
November 15, 2007:
FSNE Fall Conference, Annapolis, MD:

-This conference allows nutrition educators around Maryland to exchange resources, research information, and innovative ideas.
January 7, 2008:
Health by Design Class, Johnston Square, Baltimore, MD
-Developed, planned, and executed senior citizen nutrition class in low income housing utilizing ideas from the Health by Design programming developed by Maryland FSNE

Maryland Food Bank
November 3, 2007:
In addition to a community rotation with Maryland's Food Stamp Nutrition Education, an opportunity to run a booth at a Maryland county health fair and exposition was given. On November 3, 2007, my internship partner and I represented Maryland Food Bank with a food demonstration for a simple, low-cost dessert that encourages squash consumption. Pumpkin Pie Pudding (PDF) was a hit among the residents in attendance and includes a WIC food.

Compiled and analysed nutrient content of daily menu entrees for clients with HIV/AIDS and other chronic illnesses. Conducted quality control assessment. Conducted group Diabetes Grocery Store Tour with clients at the GIANT grocery store in Columbia Heights.

Montgomery County Public Schools (Maryland)
Met with dietitians with varying roles in the central office to understand the numberous programs affiliated with the National School Lunch Program. Toured the Central Processing Facility and visited multiple schools to better understand the system. Developed handout for the parent newsletter.
Nutrition During the Summer Months (PDF)
Montgomery County Aging & Disability Services
Reviewed local Meals on Wheels kitchen and distribution site. Delivered meals on local route and met with clients. Reviewed all programs affiliated with the Aging & Disabilities Services with dietitians. Created nutrition tips for monthly newsletter.
